Female dog and small kitten?

We have 3 Golden Retrivers, Mommy, Daddy, and a male from the only litter they had. Mommy dog is 5 years old and had a litter 2 years ago. 2 weeks ago our daughter brought home an 8 week old kitten. All our dogs are used to cats since we have an older cat. Both of our male dogs looked at the kitten smelled it and were fine with it. Our female dog is obsessed with it. She doesn't hurt it, she just wants to take it with her and keep it. The kitten isn't too sure about this and gets scared. We have tried to keep them seperate but when our daughter keeps the kitten in her room which is most of the time our female dog stays at her door and refuses to move. She was a wonderful mommy to her puppies and we think that she wants to be a mommy to the kitten. The kitten doesn't want a dog for a mother so we are trying to give her time to get used to this. Has anyone ever had a similar situation?
